Patrick Mahomes sends a strong message to the Chiefs that makes the Jaguars 'shudder'

Patrick Mahomes has responded to critics following the Kansas City Chief's narrow defeat against the Detroit Lions in the NFL season opener.

The reigning champions lost 21-20 at their home stadium, but it was a game of fine margins as the Chiefs dropped several balls. Mahomes, regarded as the best quarterback and biggest name in the sport, replied to the feedback and sounded a warning to the Jacksonville Jaguars, whom they play on Sunday 17th.

"I think when you've had so much success, people are kind of waiting for you to go down," Mahomes said to Audacy 610 Sports Radio. "We know that as a team, and I'll just say it's one loss, but you don't want them to compound, so you go out there and get better on the football field, and all of that stuff kind of goes away."

If we are who we are, and play hard and do what we do, then we'll have a chance to show everybody who the Chiefs are," Mahomes continued, when asked how the team responds. "And I think that's been the biggest message for everybody: 'Let's get back to what we do, and continue to work hard at it.'"

Promising signs in the disappointment The Chiefs had to begin their opening contest of the 2023/24 NFL season without Travis Kelce, their star tight-end. Despite missing one of their big names, they still scored 20 points and Mahomes still threw 226 passing yards for two touchdowns and one interception.
