Crippled Safair attempts a low approach after loosing wheel on takeoff

Safair B737-800 dropped its wheel on departure  A Safair Boeing 737-800, registration ZS-FGE performing flight FA-212 from Johannesburg to Cape Town (South Africa), was departing from Johannesburg's runway 21R when the outboard left main wheel separated from the airframe.  The crew stopped the climb at about FL220, descended to FL150 and entered holds to burn off fuel.  The aircraft performed a low approach to runway 21R about 90 minutes after departure, entered another hold and landed safely on runway 21R about 40 minutes after the low approach and about 2:15 hours after departure. The lost wheel was recovered within the airport perimeter.

Engine! Engine!! Engine!!! Egypt Air had a taste of failure in-flight

Egypt B738 at Alexandria experienced engine failure   An Egypt Air Boeing 737-800, registration SU-GCM performing positioning flight MS-4413 from Alexandria (Egypt) to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), was climbing through FL170 out of Alexandria when the crew stopped the climb, initiated a descent and entered a hold due to an engine (CFM56) failure.  The aircraft subsequently returned to Alexandria for a safe landing about 50 minutes after departure. A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration SU-GED positioned from Cairo (Egypt) to Jeddah to pick up the 140 Umrah pilgrim waiting for their flight back home. The airline reported the occurrence aircraft suffered a technical malfunction. A replacement aircraft was dispatched from Cairo to pick up the 140 pilgrim waiting for their flight home. In-flight engine failure on Southwest Airlines

Southwest B738 at Fort Lauderdale had an engine shut down in flight A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N8578Q performing flight WN-1575 from Fort Lauderdale,FL to Houston Hobby,TX (USA) with 184 people on board, was climbing out of Fort Lauderdale's runway 10L when the crew reported a right hand engine (CFM56) failure, the crew stopped the climb at about 4000 feet and decided to return to Fort Lauderdale.  The aircraft returned to Fort Lauderdale for a safe landing on runway 10L about 16 minutes after departure. The aircraft vacated the runway and stopped for an inspection by emergency services before continuing to the apron. Flaps pricked American Airlines

American B738 at Boston had flaps problem An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N991AN performing flight AA-1442 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to Boston,MA (USA), was on final approach to Boston's runway 04R when the crew initiated a go around due to problems with the flaps.  The aircraft positioned for another approach to runway 04R and landed safely about 25 minutes after the go around. The FAA reported: "American Airlines Flight 1442 landed safely at Logan International Airport in Boston around 1:50 p.m. local time on March 15, after the crew reported a flap issue. The Boeing 737-800 was traveling from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Boston. The FAA will investigate." Bird Strike on Egypt Air's engine

Egypt B738 at Entebbe had a bird strike  An Egypt Air Boeing 737-800, registration SU-GDZ performing flight MS-835 from Entebbe (Uganda) to Cairo (Egypt) with 116 people on board, was climbing out of Entebbe's runway 17 when a bird impacted one of the engines (CFM56) prompting the crew to divert to Kigali (Rwanda) where the aircraft landed safely on runway 28 about 35 minutes later. The aircraft remained on the ground in Kigali until Mar 3rd, then flew directly to Cairo as flight MS-835. MS-835 route is Cairo-Kigali-Entebbe-Cairo.

Flybondi rejects takeoff due to bird strike

Flybondi B738 at Buenos Aires rejected takeoff due to bird strike A Flybondi Boeing 737-800, registration LV-KEF performing flight FO-5900 from Buenos Aires Ezeiza,BA (Argentina) to Rio de Janeiro,RJ (Brazil), was accelerating for takeoff from Ezeiza's runway 35 when the right hand engine (CFM56) ingested a bird and emitted a serious of bangs and streaks of flames.  The crew rejected takeoff and returned to the apron. A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration LV-KEH reached Rio with a delay of about 5 hours. The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Buenos Aires. Argentina's JST reported they have opened an investigation into the occurrence that happened to LV-KEF on Feb 28th 2024 at about 12:45 UTC at Ezeiza Airport. Speed not deemed reliable by Andes Lineas Aereas crew

Andes B738 at Buenos Aires reports unreliable airspeed An Andes Lineas Aereas Boeing 737-800 on behalf of Flybondi, registration LV-HKS performing flight FO-5106 from Buenos Aires Ezeiza,BA to Iguazu,MI (Argentina), was climbing out of Ezeiza's runway 35 when the crew stopped the climb at FL090 feet declaring emergency and reporting unreliable airspeed.  The aircraft entered a hold and returned to Ezeiza for a safe landing on runway 35 about 40 minutes after departure. Argentina's JST reported they have opened an investigation into an incident by LV-HKS at Ministro Pistarini (Ezeiza) Airport. According to flight schedules flight FO-5106 is scheduled to depart Buenos Aires's Aeroparque,BA (Argentina) Airport for Iguazu. The occurrence aircraft had last flown on Jan 7th 2024 landing at Buenos Aires Ezeiza and was on its first departure from Ezeiza since.
