Bob Marley Film premiere spotlights Meghan and Prince Harry

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hit red carpet for Bob Marley film premiere in Jamaica

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made their first joint outing in months, hitting the red carpet for a film premiere.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were surprise guests at the debut of Bob Marley: One Love in Jamaica on Tuesday night, where they posed for photographers at the Carib Theatre in Kingston.

The former royals, who haven’t been seen together since Remembrance Day in November, greeted members of the Marley family at the event, with Meghan, 42, wearing an elegant black ball gown, while Harry, 39, opted for a suit. Meghan and Harry walked hand-in-hand as they arrived ahead of the screening.

Bob Marley: One Love, which hits cinemas on February 14, features UK actor Kingsley Ben-Adir as the legendary singer and UK actress Lashana Lynch as his wife, Rita, and is described as a celebration of “the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity.”

It’s the first time Meghan has been seen publicly since December, when the British royal family was engulfed in yet another racism storm following the release of author Omid Scobie’s new book, Endgame.

The most scandalous revelation came via a Dutch version of the book, which claimed King Charles III and Catherine, Princess of Wales were the previously unnamed royals who allegedly made comments Meghan deemed racist.

The royal racism saga first surfaced in March 2021 when Meghan told Oprah Winfrey during her first sit-down interview after leaving the UK that there had been “concerns and conversations” about what the colour of her then-unborn son Archie’s skin may be.

The royal family, nor the Sussexes, have commented on the allegations from Endgame.

In the original edition of his book, Scobie declines to identify the royal, claiming libel laws prevented him from doing so.

“I do know who made the comments about Archie’s skin colour,” he told UK program Good Morning during his book publicity blitz in early December.

“The names were mentioned in letters between Meghan and Charles that were exchanged sometime after the Oprah [Winfrey] interview.

“We know from sources that Charles was horrified that that’s how Meghan felt. Those conversations were, and that he wanted to, sort of as a representative for the family, have that conversation with her.

“And it is why I personally think they have been able to move forward with some kind of line of communication afterwards. Though they may not see eye-to-eye on it.”

Meghan attending the film premiere side-by-side with Harry, whom she wed in 2018, comes after the duke attended the Living Legends of Aviation event in Hollywood solo earlier this week.
