Harry and Meghan 'WILL attend the Super Bowl': Duke of Sussex set to stay in Las Vegas after making no mention of cancer-stricken King Charles in gag-filled speech at NFL awards which followed 24-hour whistlestop trip to visit his father in the UK

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be in attendance at this weekend's Super Bowl in Las Vegas, according to reports. The Duke of Sussex made a shock appearance at the NFL Honors awards night on Thursday, at the Resorts World Theater in Las Vegas.

He attended the event after jetting across the pond to visit his father, King Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer. It was discovered by doctors when the monarch was being treated for an enlarged prostate, but his specific diagnosis is unknown.

Now Fox News reports his youngest son will be sticking around in Sin City for the big game on Sunday evening. It also emerged last night that Harry is expected to return to Britain in May for a service at St Paul's Cathedral to mark the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, while it was claimed Charles and Sarah Ferguson were supporting each other through their illness by exchanging heartfelt letters.

At the awards on Thursday, Harry grinned as he handed the Walter Payton Man of the Year award to Pittsburgh Steelers footballer Cameron Heyward, but he failed to mention his Charles in his speech. 'Really love how you stole Rugby from us,' Harry said. He then joked about the minor differences, such as passing it forward in football, instead of backward as in Rugby. Or how the NFL needs a break every 15 seconds of play. 'All you guys do on and off the field is truly remarkable.

You are role models for millions in the way you carry yourselves and in the way you give back,' Harry said. 'I'm in shock. That's Prince Harry,' Heyward joked when he walked up on stage to accept the prize. A spokesperson for Harry said: ‘The Duke was extended the opportunity to present by The NFL and was excited to participate in the NFL Honors festivities.’ It is understood that he was not paid for his appearance. The Duke, 39, flew into London on a ten-hour commercial British Airways flight from Los Angeles to Heathrow on Tuesday and arrived at the royal residence at 2.42pm.

He then spent around 45 minutes chatting with his father, which is thought to be their first proper contact in 15 months. A palace source indicated to The Times that Harry and the King's meeting was brief because Charles was tired from a procedure on Monday. It is believed that the royal did not see his estranged brother and heir to the throne Prince William, or sister-in-law Kate, who is recovering from her abdominal surgery and is on extended leave.

'William has shown today that he has disowned Harry, he doesn't want to know him, and he probably doesn't even like him anymore. Harry is just not part of his life,' royal expert Jennie Bond told DailyMail.com.
