Prince Edward Prince Edward is taking a short break from royal dutiesGetty Royal fans took to social media to express both their concern for the duke and their praise for him taking a well-earned rest. It is recorded in the Royal Diary on The Royal Family’s website that the Duke of Edinburgh’s next appointment will not be until February 8, 2024.

Rest up sir and enjoy your break." The duke then travelled to Saint Helena for four days where he met the world’s oldest living land animal, Jonathon the 191-year-old tortoise.

Edward was the first member of the Royal Family to visit the island since the Princess Royal travelled there 22 years ago in 2002. Another social media user commented online: “It is eight days break. Not a long time.

Hope he is okay." Another royal fan said: "Hope he's okay. He and Sophie have been working so hard for a long while now, lots of overseas trips as well as UK engagements."
